Put your hand on your lower abdomen and make sure you don’t feel your abdominal muscles pulling in. Same thing with your buttocks – be sure not to tighten them as well.

People think they are doing great kegels if they tighten real hard but actually, they are tightening the strong muscles and it doesn’t do any good. Then they mistakenly think the kegel exercises won’t do any good and usually opt for surgery or decide they just have to live with their bladder problems or minimal sexual satisfaction.

Another tip, for the ladies: after you and your husband or partner have intercourse let him lie there inside you and do your kegels then. Have him tell you if he can feel your squeezing. Over time, your vagina will get tighter and tighter to him.
